Suda Korean Eatery

PIN

Suda Korean eatery is tucked away down an alley way over near southern cross station. It has a small quite charm to it, that is inviting. Things might get a little busy on a Friday or Saturday night, so it might be best to plan ahead.

Looking over the menu I was a little unsure what to answer, so I asked my waiter for their recommendations. They suggested the Pop Corn Chicken and SSAM as some of their most popular dishes, and her personal favorites.

Waiting for my dinner to arrive, I found myself taking in the scenery. There is ‘Alice in Wonderland’ drawings on the wall, pictures of minions on the book shelf; in what appears to be an odd assortment of styles. They do however manage to pull it off, and it gives the place a great sense of character.

It didn’t take long for the food to arrive, with the pop corn chicken coming out first, following shortly after by the SSAM.

Let’s just say the pop corn chicken is to die for. In what appears to be rice bubbles, there is an incredible balance between the chilli and the sweetness of the dish. The sauce on the pop corn chicken is amazing, and I could have eaten these all night. (if you don’t like chilli, you will be able to pick it off; or you can ask to have no chilli)

The SSAM was equally as good. SSAM is where you place the food into lettuce leaves and then eat it like a wrap. Once again the flavours that they managed to get into the food was amazing. You are able to mix and match what you have on each wrap, choosing from, cauliflower, kimchi, meat and sauce. After a couple of these you will definitely be feeling satisfied, and unsure whether you can fit another one in.

I rounded up my meal with a cheese cake dessert. It struck me as a rather odd dish for a korean place to have for dessert, however when it came out; once again I was blown away. The cheese cake was in a small glass, and was just the right amount of sweetness to end off the meal. It had popping candy mixed in with it, which was a great addition and made me relive the childhood memories.

It was an incredible night and I will be back not only by myself; but with friends. Because everyone needs to know about this little gem.
